*Today as a group we worked on our group proposal and took quite a bit of time figuring out the exact way to express ethos, logos, and pathos.

* We also talked more about the T-Shirt design and more about the graphic we want to put on the shirt.

Christmas Season!

I am so excited about christmas coming up! Christmas break is not far away at all which is why i am so excited. One thing that sucks about the whole finals situation is i have all my finals early and am done with them by the 14th but can go home until that friday because we have a speaker in my special education class. By the end of that week i will be so ready to come home i can not wait! I am stressing out a bit about finals and they arent even here yet! I guess just studying early is the best you can do for them. Hopefully everything goes well and christmas break hurries up and gets here!

*The purpose of our project is to aware teens and older aged teens of the effect of meat consumption on global warming.

Project: Limiting Meat Consumption

Our goal is to make a website and for it to target teens and older teens. Mostly college students instead of students who still live at home with their parents. Older teens now have the opportunity to control what they eat and it is time for them to take action and help the environment!

*Less meat consumption better the environment.

*Changes the high rates of meat consumption and could possibly change meat production from being the number one cause of global warming.

Today we decided on how we will set up our web site and some additional fun things we are adding to this.

This Weekend

I am going home this weekend and then visiting my twin sister and staying with her saturday night! I am so excited because i havent seen her in about a month! We are going to the Cincinnati football game on saturday and then visiting all our friends that go there the rest of the weekend!I know my parents are excited to go down too. but trust me not excited as i am! Whenever i get excited about the weekend it always feels like the week days go by so slow! I hate it when this happens but luckily i have no test this week which is a good thing! Hopefully the weather is nice this weekend although i am ready for some snow! How crazy does that sounds thinking that it is almost time for snow to start hitting the ground! These past few months have gone by pretty fast when you sit back and think about it! Where did all this time go!?!?

Winter Season!

I dont know if i am the only one excited about winter but i can not wait! I love winter and would definitely have to say it is my favorite season. Fall is so pretty and i love fall, but winter is amazing! I am obsessed with snow! Well maybe im not obsessed, but if i could go outside and play in the snow every day i would. I love getting cozy on the couch around christmas time and seeing it snow outside your window. It is such a relaxing feeling. Christmas break i am so excited for! I love decorating and putting up our christmas tree. Basically my favorite thing to do at Christmas time. I wish it was christmas year around. I guess if it was christmas year around that would take the fun out of everything, but still i love it! I think the most depressing thing ever is on Christmas day realizing that all the fun leading up to that day is over with! Once thanksgiving hits i am going to start to get even more excited then what i am now!

More Position Paper Ideas...

If anyone has any ideas or know what their doing for the paper we have due next week let me know! I have no idea what topic i want to chose yet because there are so many different things to write on. I mean we can write anywhere from texting and driving to forest fires! I think it will get more and more interesting as we all finally figure out what we want to write about! Peer review should be pretty interesting coming up since we get to take positions in our papers this time. Well i am thinking of writing about something happening in Australia, but i just dont know yet! I will definitely have all week to think about it which will be very nice!

Blah!

Today is monday and i am not ready for this week to start. I keep asking myself is it friday yet? I have two test friday and i am not looking forward to them at all! I wish thanksgiving break was here already and these next 3 weeks would hurry up and fly bye already! I am super sick right now and am tired of blowing my nose! It is rubbed raw from blowing it so much and its not even winter yet! Although i love this weather, i think i am ready for the snow! I love the winter and it relaxes me looking outside my window and seeing all the snow. Its so pretty how could someone not enjoy winter! I guess we all have our favorite seasons! Well hopefully this week goes by fast along with these next few weeks!

Fall Break!

Fall break should probably hurry up and get here now! I am so excited even though we only get one day off. I only have one class thursday so if you think about it i guess i could consider it almost two days long! Well i have tons of homework to do over break, but i love working on it during the weekends instead of craming on the week days. Knowing you have all weekend is relaxing, instead of worrying about what is due all week. I try and get things done for the week over the weekend, but i dont know how that will go this weekend! Its so pretty out and i love fall so we will see what this fall break has in store for me!

Position Paper

I dont know about anyone else, but i think i am going to like the position paper the best out of any of the paper we have wrote! I think its neat we get to pick our own international topic and express how we feel about it. I know it will be hard giving a good topic sentence in each paragraph, but at least its about something we get to chose! I have no idea what i want to write about yet, there are so many different articles out there. I have found international articles ranging anywhere from drought in Australia to texting while driving. Crazy right! This is crazy we are half way through with writing in english class. I was never a huge fan of english back in high school, but i am starting to like it. I am not a very good writer but i think i am getting better hopefully!

Going Home For the Weekend

I am so excited right now! I am going home this thursday night and can not wait. My family is going home too and we are carving pumpkins and making candy corn. I love spending time with my family, especially all my baby cousins. I'm upset my twin wont we home for the weekend but hopefully i see her soon. My sister goes to The University of Cincinnati so she is so far from me! One thing im not looking forward to when i go home is going to court on friday. I have to go to court for getting in a car accident with a lady going about 4 mph! Ridiculous right?!? I know thats what i am thinking too. I have never been to court so i am kind of nervous. I have no idea what i am suppost to say and barely even remember the accident it was so long ago! Wish me luck!

Fires Take Over in Australia

On EBSCO I searched Australia just looking for all different types of things to find. One thing that showed up over and over was the fires that have been appearing throughout different areas of Australia. The death rate has rose to above 200 from weekend bush fires in southeast Australia, making it the worst natural disaster on the continent in 110 years. The fires that have been appearing are said to be caused from global warming and the raising of temperatures. As the fires become more and more severe, i am wondering why many people are still living in the area? If this was happening where i lived i would be sure to get out of the area as soon as possible. In the article it talks about costs raising so much for firefighters due to so many fires lately. The fires are so unpredictable too described in the articles. They appear and start out of nowhere. Why arent people doing more to help this situation in Australia?What is exactly the answer to fixing this? Global warming is going to start effecting people everywhere, and not just in Australia. Are people not concerned about global warming because it is not effecting our generation? In generations from now, global warming will have a huge impact on where people live, and the activities the can do. These fires in Australia are becoming know ass "Mass Murders" because of the effect they have been having on the population.

Looking for articles!

Last week i found some of my articles i am going to use for the upcoming classes we need them for. While looking through the websites and finding topics that were similar, one i came across was nuclear discussions in Iraq. I found tons of articles that had recently been posted about this and decided i would print off quite a few of them. They are all pretty interesting and talk about basically the same thing. This is random, but another one i found was texting and driving! That seems to be a huge concern for everyone now a days, not just teenagers anymore! It was a story line on most of the web pages i went to. Thats pretty scary that its becoming that big of a deal!

A Helpful Question on the Peer Review

I would have to say that when reading through the peer review there were a lot of questions i read and thought to myself, Oh no i don't know if i did that! I think i did a better job at analyzing my song then i did with the whole synthesis part of my paper. I found it really hard to connect my song lyrics with the book Ishmael Beah, but eventually figured it out. I think the most helpful questions would be "How is the thesis surprising, original, and deep? That is, do you consider the insight even after the paper is over? Describe below what is original, surprising, and or deep. If it’s not yet, how might it become more original?"

When answering these questions about my own paper, i knew right away i might need to focus in on my two thesis a little bit more. I plan on going to the writing center again before our paper is due, and am going to bring my peer reviews with me. Hopefully they will help me out with my thesis!

Favorite Holiday

I am so excited for thanksgiving although it is still very far away! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because i love the atmosphere of it and all the yummy food! Thanksgiving and christmas are definitely the best holidays to me. My favorite thing at both these holidays is the delicious mash potatoes and desserts. Its fun having all my family over and seeing all the babies and cousins. Its a time where we can all get together and enjoy ourselves. I am soooooo excited for both!

Favorite Music!

I enjoy all different kinds of music but LOVE country. Every summer my friends and i go to this huge concert called country concert. Its four days long and amazing! We camp out for 4 days straight and it gets kind of irritating by the fourth day. This past year it rained 2 days straight which made everything really awful and muddy! I love country because its so relaxing to listen to. I love slow country and faster country. My favorite country singer would definitely be keith Urban or Jason Aldean. I love them and they were amazing in concert!

Needing help finding a song for english!

I am trying to find a really good song to use for english class. I keep finding different songs, but u don't know if i could get enough out of them to analyze for a whole paper. I was thinking about using a faith hill song just because she has some songs that are very meaningful and i would be able to take them apart easily. I still have until thursday so i guess i will continue looking for one until then. I tried picking some country songs, but realized a lot of the songs were way to straight forward with the meanings!

Missing Someone!

This past weekend i went home and it went by way to fast! I went home to move in my twin sister, which made me really sad! It was weird moving her in and having to say goodbye to someone i am always with. I never guessed we would go to different school and neither did our parents. I don't know how long this going to different schools will last because its a huge adjustment for the both of us. I am very excited for her starting classes tomorrow and i know she is too. I am very happy for her, but miss her tons! Talking on the phone everyday makes me miss her even more. I cant wait to see her again in two weeks! She is my best friend and always will be!

Ishmael Beah!

I was so interested in everything that Ishmael said while he was speaking to us. I was really exciting about going and seeing him the day before. He was the first famous author i have ever listened to speak to us, and i was amazed by how normal he was after going through so many different experiences in his life. I would definitely have to say that what i enjoyed most about him was his amazing accent! He speaked enlgish very well too, which was kind of a surprise. My favorite part of his presentation was when he explained to us all the different things he experienced when he moved here. He had quite an encounter with salad, and hot water! I laughed for quite awhile when i heard him talk about this. I never realized how much we take for granted until listening to him talk about it. I loved it when he referred to the salad we eat as "grass". I love salad so it was neat to see another persons perspective about it that knows no idea where salad even came from! I think it was good that Ishmael stayed away from talking about how glory everything was that happened in the book. He tried staying positive most of the time he talked and didn't really look at it was such a bad thing like i thought he would. I think it is really cool how he was so positive and such a great person! He kept repeating throughout his presentation that what he went through made him the strong person he is today. He referred to us as all having this capability inside of us, which really made me think about things in my life! Overall i really enjoyed him talking and wouldn't mind going and listening to him all over again!

This Weekend

I am so excited for this weekend because i am going home! I cant wait to see my family and friends again even though its only been two weeks! I am going home to move my twin sister into college so it should be pretty interesting. I am very excited for her and i know she cant wait either. My mom is dreading Saturday, but i am sure she will be fine with the new changes! Friday can not get her soon enough! I have tons of homework to do over this weekend but hopefully will get most of it done in the car ride!

Peer Review

I think the peer review was very helpful. It def. helped me reading out loud with classmates because i was able to catch my mistakes as i read on. I think by reading out loud you can easily figure out what sounds good and what makes no sense. Both papers i read were really good. It was fun doing something as a group, rather then just sitting by ourselves and trying to figure out our own papers. The sheets you gave us to put remarks on will def. help me too while i as proof reading my draft before turning it in!

The Weather Outside!

I am so confused by all the changes in the weather lately! One minute it is chilly outside, and then the next it is warm. Its hard to decided what to wear in the mornings because its always cold out, and then decides to change at the last minute. I guess from now on i am going to have to layer up the clothing and then just take it off as the day goes on. I guess a sweatshirt can always fit in my book bag if i dont need it! I love it when the weather starts to change though. Fall is by far the best season!

Memior About myself

I am still trying to focus exactly on what i am writing on for the paper. So far i know i am writing bout my twin sister and i being best friends. I am going to go into the memories of our first time sharing a bed room and our first experience on bunk beds! It should be pretty funny so i am kind of excited to write it! I don't know exactly how to get three pages out of it, but Im sure i will figure it out eventually!

Tons of things to do

This week is really stressful! I have tons of homework and things i need to do before i go home for the weekend. I have been trying to get all my papers and studying done so i don't have to do it at home, but it's taking a lot of time! I am so excited to go home this weekend and glad we don't have class on monday. I am super hungry right now and can't wait to eat lunch. My first class today wasn't until eleven, so i finally got to sleep in which was really nice!

What i am thinking today

Today i am very stressed out! I feel like i have so many papers to write and different things to read. It's weird going from high school to college because its hard to figure out how to manage your time. I am looking forward to the weekend to catch up on some things and get an early start on papers and test. I hope these next two weeks go super fast!

Where i am from

I am from a little town in Lima, Ohio. I loved it there and plan on moving back there after school. I miss all my friends and family back home and cant wait to see them soon. Out of all my friends i am the only person who went out of state, which is kind of exciting. I chose Ball State because i loved the campus and knew how big education was here at the university. So far i like it but am a bit homesick as dumb as that may sound!
