Ishmael Beah!

I was so interested in everything that Ishmael said while he was speaking to us. I was really exciting about going and seeing him the day before. He was the first famous author i have ever listened to speak to us, and i was amazed by how normal he was after going through so many different experiences in his life. I would definitely have to say that what i enjoyed most about him was his amazing accent! He speaked enlgish very well too, which was kind of a surprise. My favorite part of his presentation was when he explained to us all the different things he experienced when he moved here. He had quite an encounter with salad, and hot water! I laughed for quite awhile when i heard him talk about this. I never realized how much we take for granted until listening to him talk about it. I loved it when he referred to the salad we eat as "grass". I love salad so it was neat to see another persons perspective about it that knows no idea where salad even came from! I think it was good that Ishmael stayed away from talking about how glory everything was that happened in the book. He tried staying positive most of the time he talked and didn't really look at it was such a bad thing like i thought he would. I think it is really cool how he was so positive and such a great person! He kept repeating throughout his presentation that what he went through made him the strong person he is today. He referred to us as all having this capability inside of us, which really made me think about things in my life! Overall i really enjoyed him talking and wouldn't mind going and listening to him all over again!
